I know is a new platform and everything and some kinks take time to iron out but still. Its the prime example of wait a bit before buying an entirely new model.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! reported on the problems a lot of owners are facing with thew new model. Some owners have reported problems within a day or 2 of taking delivery. One owner summed up her problems within a day of getting it and is sorry she bought it: “ It wasn’t more than 24 hours since I drove it off the lot that I had my first problem — a leaky sunroof … A week or so later, it was seat belts that didn’t work, and now it has been in the shop for nearly a week for computer malfunctions which had my crash detection set off when driving on a quiet road. The parking brake came on while driving, and a major transmission fault alarm went off. When they were fixing it, the seat controls went .”
The problems are lengthy and detailed and the article is worth reading. Suffice to say, its not a good look right now for Lincoln.

At this rate, it looks like the Aviators are going to refuse
to leave the garage and endlessly mutter ‘the way of the future’...

Yeah, I’ll just keep looking for a good $5,000+/- Civic/Focus/Corolla as my next car. Just as reliable, it seems.

I liked the recent commercial where McConaughy is driving through and past a cloud stirred up by one of those other brands doing doughnuts, basically saying, “we’re above that performance nonsense; this is our idea of performance. ”
Lincoln is poised for success if they can only avoid shooting themselves in the foot like this.

I thought it was both the Explorer and the Aviator that were having issues? Like they have an entire line set up just to fix the issues that newly built ones have.

Oh yea that’ s a good commercial. I just saw it last night. Cadillac should take notice, especially with the recent loss the XT6 got over the Aviator with a Motor Trend comparison. They need to ironing out these kinks fast and they should be fine.
I find it weird though that the Explorer inst having as many problems and the Navigator had none of these problems with it came out a year or 2 ago.

It is. But for some weird reason the Explore isn’ t having as many of the issues the Aviator is having. Which is weird but could also point to the more luxurious/tech nature of the Aviator.

The Explorer is having the same issues, they’re just recalling them before they make it to the dealers, which is why they’re trickling out so slowly. The following article vaguely explains some of it.

They blamed market forces for abandoning small cars (so as not to draw light to their cover- up of failing DCTs in Fiestas and Focii ), but what will they blame this time around?

They’re totally above performance yet the new Aviator starts at 400 horsepower and goes up to 500 with the hybrid model. A BMW X4 has less than 300 hp to start with and tops out at less than 400.

Ford tried to Bentley so bad they went full British with the new Lincolns.

I get that but it’s still ironic that the Lincoln has more power under the hood as standard than a comparable BMW SUV is even offered with. You need to ste p up to a X5 M40i to get Aviator levels of power.

I mean, my Kia has 420 hp, but I don’t think anyone would call it a performance car.

A Stinger? That’s a performance car by most people’s standards. And no current Lincoln is a performance car (unfortunately) but maybe that will change. I'd like to see a Lincoln performance line similar to Bentley Speed.

They’re not about performance in the way a Maybach 62
isn’t about performance. It’s got the power to move you, and do so quickly, but it’s in a comfortable way not an exciting way. Much like a learjet is faster and more powerful than an air race plane, but the race plane is more dramatic.

A Cullinan has 563Hp and weighs as much as an Aviator. You don't see people talking about the performance of an RR.

The Cullinan costs over $425 ,000 and for that price, it better have something shocking under the hood. And frankly, 563 hp isn’t that much for a big luxury SUV.
The Aviator Hybrid is the only one that comes close to Cullinan in weight, and it only falls 68 hp shy of the Rolls. Frankly, I think it would be a pretty good race between them. Far closer than the ~$36 0,000 price difference would imply.
